There are many of places of interest on the island to visit. There are tourist information leaflets in your bedroom, but here are a few snippets of information for you. What's nearby

Using a car, we are:-

  • 5 minutes from the local Steam Railway station in Colby
  • 7 minutes from the two fishing ports of Port Erin and Port St Mary. Both of these have Steam Railway stations and Port Erin has organised boat trips to the Calf of Man
  • 15 minutes from the ancient capital of Mann – Castletown, which amongst other items of interest offers 4 Manx National Heritage (MNH) attractions:-
    • Castle Rushen
    • House of Keys
    • Nautical Museum
    • School
  • 25 minutes to Douglas, the capital of the island and effectively the business and shopping centre. There are many attractions in Douglas, depending upon your interests.
  • 30 minutes to Peel, with the famous Peel Castle and the award winning House of Manannan, another of the quality MNH attractions scattered around the island.
  • 30 minutes will take you to St Johns, which is centrally situated in the island, where the ancient government of the island meets every 5th July on the National Day at Tynwald Hill. Close to this is the shopping centre of Tynwald Mills, which is always worthy of a visit, no matter what your tastes.

For nature lovers and those interested in geology, there is Scarlett, which is just south of Castletown. There is a very informative visitor centre here, open during the summer season, explaining the local wildlife and the formation of the area over the millennia.
